One Minute Tink Reviews . . .

Brain Failure American Dreamer
How cute, it's Rancid from Japan! I know it sounds very sarcastic but really they are. They have been definitly influenced by Rancid. More power to them, but some originality would be nice, if that can be achieved these days. (Probably Rancid got the same kind of treatment when the debuted because they were compared to the Clash, which I never really agreed with.)
If you like Rancid; you will like Brain Failure.

All American Rejects Move Along
Pretty much the title of the album sums it up . . . Move Along! I tried. I just couldn't hang. Not saying it's horrible music, I just can't get into it.

John Doe Forever Hasn't Happened Yet
O.K. I'm gonna be biased on this one. I love X, so I love John Doe. I think he is great musician, actor, writer and all around good guy. I enjoyed this CD. Very mellow and melodical. Enjoy!

Harbortown Saints Loaded To The Gunwhales
I really liked it. Reminded me of the Graveyard Farmers.

River City Rebels Hate To Be Loved
Well, let's just say Hate to be Hate. I hate the front cover of this album. I hate pretty much any of the pictures on the CD artwork. Basically one big porn star orgy. Funny side note; The one pic with all the guys hanging around w/ half naked strippers but there is one guy that is sitting on the end that doesn't seem want any part of it. Anyways, they remind me of Poison except for better tattoos, which look fake by the way. As for the music, it was actually decent Pop/Punk. They changed it up a bit with horns and violins, but I wouldn't say anything was memorable. One word: Manufactured

Venus the World S/T
Love the artwork. It's so 70's. Not the best photoshop work but I think they wanted it that way, well I hope they did. Unfortunately, they sounded like every other band that is out there right now. I don't know what you call it EMO Screamo, music that is very melodic and beautiful, then screaming in the next verse, it's getting old.

Batmobile Show in Hollywood

More of my long overdue pictures!
Back in January, Batmobile put on an awesome show along with The Rezurex, Calavera, Coffin Draggers, Speed Crazy, Jack and the Rippers and Black Rose Phantoms. I didn't get any pictures of the Black Rose Phantoms from this show put I do have some cool ones from a show they opened for Tiger Army that I will put up soon...I promise!

One Minute Tink Reviews . . .

Tiger Army III:Ghost Tigers Rise
I loved this album. Great Stuff. Track #10 The Long Road, I loved the steal guitar.

Lost City Angels Broken World
I enjoyed this band. They have been getting some airplay on Indie 103.1. Track #1, Liberation is a great song.

The Vandels Hollywood Potato Chip
I honestly have not listened to a Vandels CD since Fear of a Punk Planet. I love the Vandels and now I know why I haven't listened to anything since, is because they are so much fun that they are exhausting! If that makes sense!
I think they are one of the few bands out there that have very creative and clever lyrics.
Come on everyone . . . Do the Rog!!! Hey! Hey Hey!

Underminded Hail American!
Sorry folks . . . To heavy for me!

Strongarm and The Bullies American Street Rock and Roll, California
I liked them but I'm glad it was just a CD sampler.

Johnny Powers Long Blond Hair
What can I say . . . I loved it! Actually, I think Johnny Powers is the "quiet guy" in Rockabilly. I didn't know much of him other than Long Blond Hair but there is some great songs on this CD.

Throw Rag Live at the House of Blues DVD
I love this band!!! This live DVD is just a sample of what Throw Rag has to offer live. Nothing can compare to them actually live but this comes close. Captian Sean Doe is always the entertainer in his leisure suit, from the captains hat to is speedos to his white boots. Jacko, well, it's Jacko.
I will probably get hell for this but I once said that these guys are probably some of the most unattractive men on the planet but hot damn are they're hot!!!

Will Smith Lost and Found
When I popped this in my CD player on my way home from Lancaster, I felt that Mr. Smith was being a bit hard on himself. Like, noboby likes me and if they do it's only because I'm rich or feeling a bit left out of the music scene, since concentrating of my movie carrer, and not being appreciated for the contributions I have made. Example of what I'm taking about are Tracks# 4 Mr. Nice Guy and Track#8 I Wish I Made That Actually I wanted to get hold of his agent and give him a # for a good therapit. But he shares some very real moments like on Track #7 Tell Me Why. He shares how he has to explain the war in Iraq and terrorism to his son. I found Track #5 Ms. Holy Roller interesting. How a friend of his became a born again Christian and is now looking down at his lifestyle.
I liked this CD. I found myself "gettin jiggy" and enjoying the music.
