While you wouldn’t exactly call this the “greatest punk comp of all time” as the Split 7 website boasts, the LA County Line CD release party featured four of the most promising acts of the nearly thirty included on the album. The Slanderin, conscientious psychos that they are, graciously offered to step into the opening slot when the first band cancelled, only to play for a small handful that arrived early in the evening. The most surprising set of the night was given by Go Betty Go, whose live performance is much more vibrant than any of their recordings would lead you to believe; being a group of cute young girls in a crowd of mostly men probably doesn’t hurt their audience reception either. Penis Flytrap, fronted by 45 Grave’s seemingly ageless beauty, Dinah Cancer, put on a little bloodbath to the crowd’s delight, and Los Creepers ended the show with their typical m.o., starting off slow and gradually building to a frenetic pace.
